Government Scientific Returns Policy

Thank you for choosing Government Scientific as your trusted supplier of scientific equipment and products. We understand that sometimes returns may be necessary. Please review our returns policy carefully to ensure a smooth and efficient return process.

  1. Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA): All returns must be accompanied by a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. To obtain an RMA request number, please contact our customer service team at or call 800-248-8030. The RMA number must be clearly marked on the outside of the return package. Read return instructions carefully, as the RMA number GSS provides differs from the manufacturer’s RMA number.
  2. Reporting Damage and Missing product: Customers must report any damage/shortages to items within 48 hours of receiving the shipment. Failure to report damage/shortage within this timeframe may affect the eligibility of your return/replacement.
  3. Return for Convenience: Items may be requested for return for convenience within 30 days from the date of purchase. Shorter return windows may apply and be subject to the manufacturer's policies.
    Products must be unused, in their original packaging, and in resalable condition.
  4. Restocking Fee: Depending on the manufacturer, a restocking fee of up to 20% of the product's purchase price may be applied to returns for convenience. This fee is subject to the manufacturer's policies and will be communicated to you during the RMA process.
  5. Non-Returnable Items: The following items are non-returnable:
    • Temperature-sensitive items
    • Discontinued products
    • Hazardous materials (hazmat)
    • Biological products
    • Sterile products
    • Custom-configured instruments or made-to-order products
    • Medical devices
    • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that is not returnable per the manufacturer's policies.
  6. Responsibility for Shipping:
    • Damage/Defective Products: Government Scientific is responsible for covering the shipping costs associated with returning damaged or defective items.
    • Return for Convenience: Shipping costs for returns for convenience are the responsibility of the customer.
How to Initiate a Return: To initiate a return, please follow these steps:
  1. Contact our customer service team at or 800-248-8030 to submit an RMA request. If you know your Customer Service representative, you may email or call them directly.
  2. Package the item(s) securely and in the original packaging or separate shipping box to prevent damage.
  3. Clearly mark the RMA number on the outside of the package.
  4. Ship the package to the address provided by our customer service team with the required paperwork within the specified return period.

Once the manufacturer receives the authorized returned item(s) and inspects their condition, we will process your return in accordance with this policy.

Please note that any returns not in compliance with this policy may be subject to refusal or additional restocking fees. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in adhering to these guidelines.
