Wayne Bardsley
Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors

Wayne Bardsley, Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors, founded Government Scientific Source (GovSci) in 1991. Under his leadership, the company has grown into a nationally recognized organization with over 200 employees across six locations. The company operates two sales and customer service distribution centers in Virginia and New Mexico, as well as stocking distribution warehouses in California and Tennessee, ensuring seamless service and accessibility for clients nationwide.


Before founding GovSci, Bardsley held esteemed positions at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Investment Company Institute, Calvert Group of Mutual Funds, and Newmarket Capital Corporation, a Northern Virginia mortgage banking firm. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College and his law degree from Boston University School of Law. Outside of his professional endeavors, Bardsley is an avid sailor and enjoys playing chess and duplicate bridge.

Mike Mendrysa
Chief Executive Officer

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mike Mendrysa has been a cornerstone of GovSci for 25 years, driving growth and success. Before becoming CEO, he served as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, where he led the Sales, Customer Service, Marketing, and Business Development teams with distinction. Under his leadership, the company has earned numerous accolades, including multiple nominations as Small Business of the Year by the Department of Energy and a recent award of this honor from Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The company was also recognized with a prestigious designation from a NASA Johnson Space Center contractor during his tenure, reflecting his dedication to excellence and customer satisfaction.


Mendrysa holds a degree in Biology from John Carroll University, where he developed a lifelong passion for learning. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, spending quality time with his family, and embracing opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Gretchen Pfaffe
President and Chief Operating Officer

Gretchen Pfaffe, President and Chief Operating Officer, leads the Operations, Contracts, Compliance, and Vendor Management departments with exceptional expertise and dedication. Since joining GovSci in 1998, she has held key roles including Sales and Customer Service Representative, Contracts Manager, Vice President of Contracts and Compliance, and Senior Vice President of Operations. With over 20 years of experience in Federal Acquisition Regulations and Federal Contract Compliance, Pfaffe is a recognized leader in her field and an active member of The Coalition for Government Procurement, where she contributes to advancing industry standards and practices.


A proud graduate of George Mason University and a longtime resident of the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, Pfaffe brings both deep industry knowledge and a personal commitment to excellence in her work. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys exploring live music and traveling to new destinations.

Brandon Wieland
Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer at GovSci, Brandon Wieland oversees and directs the Facility Operations, Finance, and Reporting departments, ensuring the organization’s financial health and operational efficiency. Wieland has been a valuable member of the team for over 15 years, initially serving as an independent financial statement auditor before officially joining the company. His extensive background includes roles as a public accountant, where he conducted financial audits, managed general ledger accounting, prepared income tax filings, and provided financial consulting for a diverse range of organizations.


Wieland holds an accounting degree from the University of Maryland and is both a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). Known for his meticulous approach to financial strategy and operations, he brings a wealth of expertise to GovSci’s leadership team. Brandon resides in Olney, Maryland, with his family and enjoys contributing to his local community while balancing his professional and personal commitments.

Sarah DeBauge
Vice President, Investments

Sarah DeBauge joined GovSci in 2017 as Vice President of Finance and transitioned to her current role as Vice President of Investments in 2022. With professional credentials as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Treasury Professional (CTP), DeBauge brings exceptional expertise in financial strategy, investment management, and corporate treasury operations to the company’s leadership team.


Originally from Parsons, Kansas, DeBauge pursued her academic career at Stanford University in California before making her home in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Her commitment to excellence and deep financial acumen play a critical role in supporting the company’s long-term growth and investment strategies

Philip Farinelli
Vice President, Supplier Management

Philip Farinelli serves as Vice President of Supplier Management. In this role Farinelli has overseen the Supplier Management, Supply Chain Planning, and Purchasing teams since 2019. With over 20 years of procurement and supply chain planning experience in the scientific marketplace, Farinelli excels at building strong collaborations with supplier partners to streamline the purchasing process and deliver competitively priced, high-quality products to customers.


Farinelli holds a degree in Business Marketing from Grove City College. Outside of work, he is passionate about golf, volunteering, and spending quality time with his family. His dedication to operational excellence and fostering supplier relationships is key to driving the company’s continued success.

Tony Nardei
Vice President, Business Development

Tony Nardei joined GovSci in 2016 as the Director of Life Science and now serves as Vice President of Business Development. In this role, Nardei focuses on fostering and strengthening relationships with the company’s supplier-partners, ensuring collaboration and mutual success. With a distinguished career in technical sales at industry leaders such as Agilent, Beckman, and Millipore, Nardei brings decades of expertise and a proven track record to his role.


Throughout his career, Nardei has earned multiple Salesman of the Year awards, recognizing his exceptional performance as one of the top 5% of sales professionals in the field. He holds a degree in Chemistry from Duquesne University. Outside of work, Nardei enjoys exploring the arts and spending time with his family and friends.

Alfredo Garcia
Vice President, Logistics

As Vice President of Logistics, Alfredo Garcia leads the development and execution of GovSci’s logistics operations across its six warehouses nationwide. Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Garcia also oversees the Albuquerque operations department, ensuring seamless supply chain management and operational excellence.


A U.S. Marine veteran, Garcia has been recognized for his leadership and dedication with prestigious accolades, including the VWR International President’s Award and the ThermoFisher Practical Process Improvement Facilitator Award. Outside of work, Garcia cherishes spending time with his children and grandchildren, bringing the same passion and commitment to his family as he does to his professional endeavors.

Francisco White
Vice President, Purchasing

Francisco White, Vice President of Purchasing at GovSci, has been an integral part of the organization since 1997, when he began as Purchasing Manager. After serving as Assistant Vice President, he was promoted to Vice President in 2003, where he continues to oversee procurement strategies with precision and expertise.


A proud graduate of North Carolina A&T State University, White’s commitment to leadership extends beyond the workplace. He is the founder and former president of an AAU Basketball Program in Maryland and currently serves as Financial Secretary for his fraternal organization. In his free time, White channels his creativity as a drummer in a Maryland-based band.

Jermain Brown
Vice President, Warehouse Operations

Jermain Brown, Vice President, Warehouse Operations, joined Government Scientific in 2001, previously serving as Assistant Vice President of Warehouse Operations. As Vice President, Brown oversees logistics and operations of the company’s Virginia and Tennessee locations. He is a proud Veteran of the U.S. Navy. During his time in the Navy, he earned several awards including a Kosovo War Service Medal (1998), a Good Conduct Medal for years in service (2000), and several letters of commendation. Brown was raised in New London, Connecticut.
