Ready-to-use Pseudomonas Isolation Agar (PIA) Plates are used for the growth, selection, and differentiation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Magnesium chloride, potassium sulfate, and glycerol in the PIA formula trigger the production of the blue-green pigment, pyocyanin, which makes it easier to identify P. aeruginosa.
Irgasan (triclosan), a broad-spectrum antimicrobial, helps prevent the growth of numerous bacterial species.
Contains 2% tryptone, 0.14% magnesium chloride, 1% potassium sulfate, 0.003% irgasan, 2% glycerol, and 1.36% agar.
